Constant feeding for last few nights! WHY?!?

My baby is 11 weeks and she normally BFs to sleep for about an hour then sleeps for 4-7 hours, then blocks of 1-3 for the rest of the night.

For the past 3 nights she's taken almost 2 hours to get to sleep then wakes within 10-50 mins and feeds about 10 times through the night its 11.30 and I've been feeding her almost constantly since 8pm. If she or I unlatch her within 5 mins she's awake and rooting. She seems to be startling awake, like she got a fright, and using me to get back to sleep(which is fine) but I can't di this all night again I usuSlly co-sleep from about 6am onwards but have had her in with me for the last 3 nights all night.

Any ideas of why this is happening? Xxx

Now she's waking every 10 mins, feeding for a few mins and falling asleep again. I wonder if she's teething?

Sounds like a growth spurt. My baby went through a stage like this but was 6 weeks old only, but apparently they have these growth spurts every few weeks...so far my son has only had it once, it lasted 2 weeks, constantly feeding, only sleeping for 15 minutes at a time if that!

As for teething, I'm not sure, I wonder this too, my son is similar age to your baby and drools an awlful lot and started chewing his own hands since a week ago (New habit) I'm thinking teething is possible as he has moments where he is restless while not hungry or sleepy.

Are you able to do the breastfeeding while in a laying down position, I find this really helps, that way you both sleep or at least relax, but you have to be confident that you feel safe doing so, some people worry about rolling onto the baby, I am a very light sleeper so I feel ok doing this, I never really switch off I find, must be mother instinct and am very still while sleeping not really a roller or mover x

Hang in there for a week and if it continues see the GP to rule out any problems x

I agree with growth spurt.........they have them at around
3 wks, 6 wks, 3 months and 6 months. It usually lasts about 3 days. They are upping your supply for what they need as they grow.

The drooling is probably teething I know my LO started at around 3 months, having the drooling, fingers and everything in mouth to chew on, irritable and sore, not that she had teeth pushing thru and she doesn't have them yet.

Growth spurts generally last 3 days..........were as teething comes and goes on different days and I go with its teething if lots of drool and irritable but not hungry and chewing everything

Thanks I am thinking it is definitely teething too, can't wait for my baby to learn to hold objects so that I can distract them with a teething ring. Mittens get soaked as he chews on them too lol, there is no stopping him from munching his little hands
