pantleys gentle removal plan worked for us! Now he nurses til sleepy, I read him a book then he goes in his cot awake and goes to sleep himself. i loved nursing him to sleep but could not cope with doing it 5 times a night just so he could go back to sleep. Since he learnt to go to sleep himself he now sleeps through most nights x

We also nursed to sleep until quite late on. If you're going to try and stop maybe hold off until after the teething is done as, like you say, a lot of it may be about comfort.

When I decided to stop nursing back to sleep in the night, my DH and I had to do a lot of rocking back down to sleep in her rocking chair in the dark and then shushing her with a hand on her chest until she properly dropped off. When she was having a bad teething 'do' last time she really needed a lot of help to get back to sleep. Now she drops off to sleep with just the lullaby music from her monitor playing but expect this to change once she's teething again. So, we basically just substituted each sleep prop for a lesser one each time (eg. nursing to rocking to lullabies)!

just google pantleys gentle removal plan and you will find lots of stuff about it! It takes time and patience though and we used a dummy for a while before weaning off that too. Good luck x

I think I'm just going to go with it until the teething has stopped. The last three nights she wouldnt even go back into her cot after being fed, she just screamed until I picked her up and brought her in with us. We co-sleeped alot when she was younger but had kind of got out of the habit but at the moment it seems it is the only way she will sleep and that is only for maybe 2 hours at a time. The only thing I'm worried about is I'm due to go back to work in 3 months time and she still needs the breast for naps (when she has them) in the afternoon - I was trying to get out of the habit of doing it in the day and then progressing to night but think I'll leave it for a few weeks.
