Nursing to Sleep

I have always nursed my LO to sleep and have never had a problem with this. The thing is, she keeps waking in the night and the only thing to get her back to sleep is give her the breast. I know she isnt hungry as she only nurses for about 3 minutes - she is obviously used to the breast to get to sleep and when she wakes that is what she is looking for. I have tried letting her cry but she becomes hysterical and I give in. She is also teething at the moment so I know some of it is comforting but does anyone know how to break this cycle!

My friends had to break that habit. She basically put her LO down awake after a feed and shhhed and patted or sang to her LO to settle her.

For me my LO grew out of it around 10 months and stopped falling asleep on the bottle and wanted to be put in bed awake. I do believe that they grow out of it but some sooner than others.

Hope you find a solution soon

Xx

you could try using a dummy to help her drift off to sleep

Thanks for replies. Sometimes she will go in her cot awake but still wakes constantly in the night. She wont take a dummy either. I have one little madam on my hands!

My son is exactly the same, and he won't have a dummy. I'm just hoping he grows out if it

They do grow out of it. Trust me, you'll miss the days of nursing to sleep. You aren't doing her any harm at all

I nursed my son to sleep for a long time. He's 5 and sometimes I wish I could still do it just so he would go to sleep!!!!

Don't worry they they will out grow it.

I still nurse to sleep...but I don't feel like giving it up yet! ;-) however, there is a good book out there called no cry sleep solution that describes pantley pull off method. Hope it helps!
