How long will it hurt?

My LO was 9 months yesterday and the time has come for him to move onto formula. He has severe dietary issues which cause serious eczema and so both of our diets are extremely limited. He will drink a little of the formula (Neocate) and I am hoping he will take more now I am not going to offer him BM.

Anyway, my question is how long will it be before I am not in agony?! My breasts are extremely painful, it even hurts picking him up. I fed him for the last time at 7pm last night and no feel like I am going to explode. His last breast feed before that was at 11pm the previous night as have been trying hard to cut back. I really don't know how long I can take this pain.

Any tips or advice would be massively appreciated.

Thanks

Mmm maybe try a hot shower or bath. They will leak a bit and it will relieve some of the pressure without stimulating the breast too much.

Stopping cold turkey will be hard. i really feel for you, but don't have any advice. i have a chronic history of mastitis and my dr said if I wanted to stop cold turkey then she would prescribe me with a lactation suppressant.

That's about the extent of my knowledge of stopping BFing. Best of luck
