Does your expressed milk...


Look curdled?! It looks awful and sticks to the side of the bottle, is this normal?!

Yes, it's normal. The fat seperates and rises to the top. Just give it a gentle 'swirl' to mix it back up again when you want to use it.

When I first started breast feeding and expressing milk I thought the milk had gone bad and would throw it out. After I did some research I realized it was normal, phew! The same thing would happen to cows milk if it wasn't homogenized.

Shaking breastmilk denatures the shaper molecules of the protective proteins, which leaves only the amino acids. Cellular components are also susceptible to damage by physical stress as they are living cells.
