doing your own wedding make up

Just trying to think of a list of things I would need and these include:

decent brushes
good moisturiser ( I have)
cleanser & toner (I have)
waterproof make up setting spray

primer
YSL brush foundation
YSL touche eclat
Illuminator/ face glow
setting powder
blusher
eyebrow pencil
eyeshadows
waterproof liquid eyeliner
waterproof volume mascara
lipstick

Has anyone got any tips for wedding make up?
My so called 'friend' backed out of doing mine. I dont mind doing it myself I just hope my nerves are ok??

You might need a concealer of some sort too, just in case. There is a really good thread in General Chatter at the moment called Hair/Makeup/Outfit of the day which has really good product recommendations. It also has a step by step 'eyes' guide by a professional make up artist (Nut_Shake) which might be of help

Dream.A.Dream did her own wedding makeup, she might have some tips as well

i use hair spray to set my make-up when i wear it, maek-up artists dont recommend it but it works better than any make up setting spray that i have used...just be sure to hold your breath or breath out when your spraying it xx

Remember wedding make up can't have any SPF in it as the photographers flash can bounce off it making you look washed out xxx

Ive spoken to a MAC consultant who said that a good quality foundation used the right way wont shine badly on pictures- apparently!!! Im not so sure though?

My everyday look is quite audrey hepburn, good base and liquid eyeliner slicked with volumised lashes. Im going to go for this look but flawless and more defined.

Hairspray used on the face is a no no for weddings as it makes your face shiny! Ill just use that stuff I found on ebay!

Im going to see a YSL consultant in the house of fraser to buy my products (after my tan trial!) and then buy the other quality stuff from ebay.

Hi honeybee! I'm normally over in TTC/PG area but took a sneaky peek on here and just had to comment. I did my own make up on the day as I'd seen so many people unhappy when it was done by others (only on the telly though!). What you need to do is PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!! I wore mine a little heavier than I would normally (which is quite light anyway) as I wanted it to show up in my piccies and for me to not look like I do every day or washed out! I kept it very natural though and was lucky enough to have treated myself to a whole new set of make-up from Virgin Vie (cost hundreds of £s but I got it all free!). I was very calm on the morning itself, but I am a super control freak and I knew everything was in hand. My sister thought I had taken something because I was so chilled, but no, that was all down to my very careful planning - it made it so much easier when putting my face on! Remember to give yourself enough time on the day, and whatever you do don't wear your dress when putting your make up on (nothing worse than a splodge of foundation, or a strip of pink lippie down the front of your dress!). Practice, practice, practice is the key to your success! Oh, and congrats on getting married - hope you have a lovely day!

She's right about the right foundation/primer base meaning no shine SPF causes a glare, which causes light to reflect and leaves you looking ghostly white, sorry if I didn't word that right the first time xxx

ye thanks hunny. I dont know of any foundation, concealer or powder that doesnt contain spf??

Cheers tark!

Im not even bothered about me getting ready, I'm going to be very organised and stuff. Ill have my hair done at 8am, be in brecon for 10:45 and start doing my make up at 1pm. During that time (11-1) I need to get my 5 bridesmaids sorted out: make up, hair, eyebrows, dresses, shoes & accessories! Im hoping they'll bring their make up with them and they'll help each other with the applying. Two of my bridemaids I can trust completely to look gorgeous but the other 3 will need considerable help. My aunt is a hairdresser so will hopefully help at least two fo them with their hair, and Ill do one of them because her hair is short and I can do it fab for her!

So really, I wont be stressed doing my own or getting ready- I will be stressed making sure my bridesmaids look perfect though!

I find doing my own make up very thereputic and as long as I have the right stuff, I know I can do a good job!
