Wedding Journal - August 2012

I'm starting another journal, as pretty much everything from my last one has changed.. I actually might have had 2 journals before, I'm not sure

Originally we were going to get married in Derby, as that is where we are originally from, and where all of our family are based. This was our very, very first venue: http://www.forever-green.info/about.html
I still love it, but we live in Manchester now. We originally thought that people wouldn't come if we based it all up here.. but then decided that people important to us would travel. It's also a lot easier to arrange a wedding closer to home, or so we thought.

After looking at numerous venues and finding many unsuitable, our next venue was The Orangery at Heaton Park: http://www.heatonpark.org.uk/heatonp...all__orangery/
We visited and paid the deposit. However it was not meant to be, and they called just the other day to cancel, saying that they were closing down It was hard as we'd arranged a lot of the wedding around that being the venue. With it being in a park, I was imagining a wedding picnic, and outdoor games, etc.

So.. I restarted the venue hunt (after having exhausting it the previous time, it wasn't particularly easy), and yesterday we visited here: http://www.studiovenues.co.uk/confer...ence-venue.htm
We're not the most traditional couple, and have always wanted to stick with a kind of modern wedding, but with it still being recognisable as an actual wedding.. so this venue fits with that. OH is emailing them a few extra questions, but fingers crossed, this will be our venue for the reception (for the actual ceremony, we're just going to the register office).

WOW! The new venue is very stylish and colourful! How perfect for a reception!
Sorry you had to change your venue twice! This must be meant to be though.
Completely agree if people care to be there, they'll travel for you!

Good luck with the rest of the planning!!! =D x

Definatley agree with Patch, if people care enough, they'll travel
We have a few people travelling from South Wales, North Wales, Liverpool, South East London and Kent and they'll all be staying at the hotel (at their cost too, altho I wish we could afford to pay for their rooms!)

New venue looks fab hun

Thankyou both, I do hope it will be 3rd time lucky with the venue.

Here's my dress
http://www.monsoon.co.uk/bridal-dres...invt/85312341/

In true 'me' style, it's not actually the only dress I have.. I bought a really cheap one when I thought we'd be too skint to afford one a bit more expensive. Then I coo-ed over this one for months, tried it on and it fit and was perfect. Ryan cried at the till because he wanted to buy it for me (he's only 3 and a half). It has a pencil-code on the label which, from retail experience, means it will be going into the sale.. but there were only a few sizes left and I didn't want to risk leaving it there and waiting for it to go in the sale

I just love that dress very beautiful! Your venue looks ace! Sorry its taken 2 other venues to get to it, but the best comes to those who wait (and get f*cked over by other venues ) what a pain in the bum!

There's a couple of issues, but hopefully we can sort them out. They said last night a cash/card bar would be ok, but then emailed today to say they couldn't do it. We'd have to buy all the drinks from them beforehand, and there is no way we can afford to pay for everyone's drinks all night They have no bar there, so they have to hire one in. I've looked online and there are hire bars which can be cash/card bars (and they have all the drinks), so hope they can look into that/let us hire one.
