Nontraditional wedding - tips?

I got engaged on new years eve and neither me or my OH can invision having a traditional wedding. Imagining me walking down the isle in a white ball gown seems really silly. The princess tiaras, the veils, the girly girl thing just doesn't work for me. BUT I am still a girl at heart who wants something romantic.

Anyone have any ideas? What kind of dress? What kind of set up? I am lost and we will be getting married this year, so we don't have much planning time.

Why don't you go for a knee length prom style dress with a net type veil that covers one side of your face? IYKWIM? And have a reg office and massive party after? x

Hiya!
Congrats on the engagement

You can have whatever you like, its your wedding!

I'm having a knee length dress. We're getting married at our registry office, then inviting everyone back to our back garden for a buffet and loads of booze, having spotify as our music and hay bales and picnic blankets for people to sit on, but no formal sit down meal at all.
Rock and roll bride website has loads of lovely inspiration for non traditional weddings and lots of different unusual but romantic themes.

happy planning xxx

You can have whatever wedding you want. A friend of mine got married with her trainers on under her big white dress and had a bouncy castle and bumper cars at her reception.

Do just exactly what you and your fiancé want!
I am wearing a black dress with black veil, I know its going to cause some discussion, but there is no way on this earth that I would want to rock up in a fluffy white number!

congratulations
do whatever makes you & your oh happy, I'm wearing trainers under my dress with knee length black & white checkered stockings, our day is sort of half & half there is traditional parts but there is lots of little bits of our personalitys in the day

have a look through the brides section & find out Nuke's wedding journal her & hubby went all out on making their day their own/non traditional but from her pics it was stunning

I've seen people get married at their city halls, most are nice but aren't the traditional "church" and whatnot. The short dress with birdcage veil sounds like an awesome idea! You can always Google it too, like "non traditional wedding ideas" etc, there's lots of people who do their own thing.

What are your pastimes? Stuff that defines you and your guy? Stuff like that can help incorporate your wedding ideas.
