I'm about to have my 3rd csection (4th baby), and last time they avoided cutting through the scar. My doctor said he will likely do the same thing as last time by avoiding the scar. I'm not sure what's better or why, but I think it means less time on the operating table if they can avoid cutting through the old scar tissue. Less bleeding as well I believe?
Definitely a question to ask your doctor, since they have different protocol in different countries.
I'm from Canada.

I can see you're from Lancashire - I'm also from there so it may be that they won't rule a VBAC out. I see my Consultant on 6 June so I should know a bit more then.

Thank you all ladies :-)

To think I was nervous as it was unplanned...now I'm all excited and dying to know what I'm having!

Here's my update. Just had my third csection a week ago and it knocked me right off my ass! My first 2 were a walk in the park but this one is something out of hell. Maybe it's me and my case but wow did I not expect the pain to be this bad upon recovery. Thank god for help bc I'm on day 8 and can barely walk.

Sorry to hear that! Did you notice anything different? Did they cut the same scar?

From what I know he cut out the old scar and recreated a new one. The pain though has nothing to do with the incision it's really the muscles/ ligaments that hurt like hell including my back. It's been 12 days and although I'm better the pain is still there. Car rides are rough and I still take one morphine at nighttime. I was quite shocked bc my first 2 were a joke..... My dr says the third is the worst bc it's the third time they cut the abdominal wall
