Fibroid Removal During CS?

Has anyone had fibroids removed during your CS? I just found out I have a couple of fibroids. If I do end up with a CS I would prefer they are just taken out then as I'll already be opened up. Has anyone had a doctor that was willing to do this?

If they're not causing you problems and you want to have more children they will probably advise you not to have them removed. I don't have any fibroids but my friend has one which grew massively while she was pregnant, she ended up having a section which was nothing to do with the fibroid but they didn't remove it. She had lots of problems after and was admitted to hospital because of the pain a couple of times but the consultants still advised her not to have it removed due to the risk of a hysterectomy being needed and to wait and see if it settled down. It did at around 6 months and she just knows now that if she has another baby she may have to go through it again x

I asked my doc and he said he wouldn't touch them. He said during pregnancy there is added blood flow to the fibroids an trying to take them out could cause you to bleed a lot and then the only possible way to stop the bleeding would be a hysterectomy!! I said okay don't touch it!!!! haha I never knew that I had one before my first pregnancy, I never had any symptoms or problems with it. Then 5 yrs later I got pregnant again (now) and I still have the same fibroid but it's twice the size this time (6 cm) but again no problems.

good luck.
