Fitbit flex

Who has one and would recommend? Is it worth the money? Or anything similar?

I have one, I only paid 2 for it as I got it with club card points when the double up was on. It's really good for tracking steps, and it works fine when pushing the pram too, I also like that it tells you how much sleep you've had. Although I was disappointed it didn't have a clock, I totally thought it did when I bought it lol. I wouldn't pay full price for one.

I got one last February for my birthday and love it! I just strap it on my wrist and forget about it until it needs to be charged again. You can wear it in the shower, while you wash dishes/etc. I love the alarm feature on it; perfect for when you have small kids around that wake up at the slightest sound - it will vibrate on your arm to wake you up instead of making noise. The dashboard is fun and tracks a lot of different things: steps, miles walked, calories in vs out if you use their built-in food tracker or sync it with a website like MyFitnessPal, active minutes, weight, etc. You can change your goals to meet your needs too. You can also add friends and see how you rank against them for steps for the week. If you want something more techy like a clock on it you can buy one of the newer versions, but if you're just looking for an activity tracker it's great. I'd buy it again if something happens to mine.

There are other brands that do the same thing too, if you want to compare prices and deals. Just be careful because some of them charge fees to use their programs!

Count my steps and to see how many calories I burn. Interested to see how my sleep is too.
Just don't want it to be one of them things I buy then don't bother with after a few day xx

The great thing about the Flex is that you just strap it on your wrist and go. Like I said before, I only take mine off to charge it every couple of days. It automatically syncs with my laptop when I'm near it, so I can always log into the dashboard and see how I'm doing for the day. So there is really very little time and energy invested into the thing by itself. As long as you keep it on your wrist and charged, it'll do the rest.

Here's what the dashboard looks like in action:

I'm going to go against the grain and say it wasn't worth the money for me (if I had bought it-- I got it used from a family member for Christmas who also didn't get much use of it). I personally found that I stopped bothering with it after a month. Maybe if I was more active outside of work (e.g. if I took up running) I would use it more.

For me, I couldn't figure out much to do with it besides counting steps, monitoring sleep, and linking it to myfitpal. My phone's built-in pedometer seems to be just as accurate, and I always have that on me when I'm out and about. I did like how I could link it to myfitpal, but wouldn't have paid the full price of the flex to do so. The monitoring sleep thing is interesting at first, but I didn't bother much with it after the first few nights.

Also, it has silent alarms, but mine worked right only about 50-60% of the time! I don't know if that's because it detected my movement as tapping it, or if the silent alarm vibration hit right when I was moving and couldn't feel it. Or if it just never went off at all. That would've increased the value of it for me. I don't know if this is a defect in my flex, or what. I might investigate that.

I might give it another go for the sake of using it. It's just marginally more useful than my phone, solely because it goes on like a watch and can be worn a lot easier in some situations than my phone (e.g. if I'm doing things around the house I'm not usually toting my phone from room to room). The thing I DO like about it is that it serves as a reminder to be more active and make better choices. It does give you a little bit of a focusing point.

All depends on what you're looking for. I suppose it just wasn't what I thought I was looking for.
