What does dark green poop mean?
I switched my baby from Similac brand to Gerber Gentle and his poop has been olive green to almost black-green since the switch (about 3-4 weeks ago) and now he's experiencing constipation and spit up.
I've switched his formula around so many times now trying to find something that didn't mess him up in one way or another and my husband's concerned that I'm giving him stomach issues by constantly switching so I'm afraid to switch one more time. But should I?
Any advice or experiences would be helpful. Thank you.
The colour isnt an issue as far as I'm aware; both my formula fed babies have had that colour and there hasnt been a problem. But of he's constipated it might be worth switching to one that eases it, if he's uncomfortable.
Just wondering if anyone else has thoughts on this.. my baby is combi-fed (about 2/3 formula, 1/3 pumped breast milk) and also has rather alarming dark green poops. I thought that the formula should be causing him to have more formed stools by now? He sometimes has gas that obviously distresses him, but I assume that's fairly normal (FTM here). He's on Similac formula - we're going to try the lactose-free kind next container to see if that makes a difference, as I eat very little dairy in my diet.
Just for the OP - we've been on the lactose-free formula for about two days and LO's poops have gone back to normal colour (yellow-brown). I'm thinking I'll stay on the lactose-free formula until he's older and then gradually reintroduce lactose. Something to consider
