my baby used to drink about 5, 5oz bottles a day but lately he is only taking maybe 3 5oz bottles and maybe 1 bottle of about 3 oz.
he just doesnt seem hungry at all and will only have a bottle if it has been ages since his last one,
im starting to get worried because for his weight he should be having about 30oz a day and he is only having about 20oz at the most.
has this happened with anyone else.
someone dd suggest to me tht maybe he wanted food instead of milk but i dont know about this
my baby randomly started doing this around 3 months of age. for 2 weeks straight he would at most have 3 oz about 5 times a day when before that he had been having 6 oz! i put it down to teething and growth spurt because he seems to be back on track, eating about 5 oz every 3 hrs now.
Jax did this during a growth spurt, slowed right down & just wasn't bothered but he started taking 4-5oz again bout 2-3wks later, The amount they should drink is a guideline hun not set in stone, If your baby isn't drinking what they say i wouldn't be worried just go off instinct & how your baby is in themselves if happy/contented then i would be too.
He's to early for introducing foods though, he doesn't need that yet. Changing the teat is an option though hun, i did ! x
My LO is doing this as well, I put it down to teething and growth. Last week she halved her intake competely but looked happy and ergetic enough. This week she slowly uped her intake but nowhere near as much as she used to take. I think it does happen at that age x
Glad I found this as I've been worries as James is only taking 4 x 100ml bottles a day. He seems happy and contented when awake but sleeps a lot. He's happy in himself tho so I'm not too worried as I have a hospital visit tues so ill ask them when I'm there. Syringe feed wud be a better idea then spoon then you can control te flow xx
Hi all, My son is now 5 Months old. He usually will drink milk every 2 hours, 4oz. But nowadays, he drank very less, 2oz after 5 to 6 hours and he started to drink milk together with nestum (2.5 teaspoon), 3oz. When he feels hungry than only he will cry for milk. Sometimes i will try to give him milk again after 3 hours he drank milk, but still he will refused to drink.
I already start to give him porridge. Even porridge also he refused to eat. Why he doing like this? He become thin nowadays.
Every baby is different. I think as long as baby is feeding regularly and gaining weight, reaching milestones, seems happy overall, everything is okay.
At our 2 month check-up, my doc told us that our lo was almost 1lb underweight, and suggested 1-2 extra feeds per day.
Then we went to baby's first round of vaccinations, and the health nurse informed us that she is a bit smaller in weight, yes, but also in length. She is in the same percentile for both height and weight.
I make 4.5 oz bottles right now (she is 4.5 months old) and she feeds every 2-3 or sometimes 4 hours. Sometimes she will only take 2-3 oz. I'm not worried about it, she seems happy, healthy, and just fine!
