is he having enough for his age?

right joshua is nearly 6 weeks and he is still only having 5oz every 3 hours or so.

is he having enough?

i put him up to 6oz the other week coz he was still sucking even when all the milk had gone but he wasnt finishing them so put him down to 5oz again.
sometimes he finishes it all sometimes he doesnt.

sometimes he goes 3 hours other times he goes 4 hours.

during the night he has a bottle at 7ish maybe abit before or abit after and he will not wake for another bottle for about 7-8 hours then he has a bottle, which usually he doesnt finish and doesnt wake again for another 4 hours.

im fine with the night time feeds but was just wondering if he is having enough oz of milk through the day for his age.

x x

As long as he is satisfied that it is fine. I would still go up to six ounces though if he is draining 2 or more bottles a day, he won't eat the same amount every feed, and sucking the bottle dry can cause excess gas. Babies don't necessarily need to finish their entire bottle every time Hannah eats 4-5 ounces every 4-5 hours, but every baby is different.

Noah is 8 months old (5 months corrected) and he only eats 6 oz at each feeding. My doctor said this was okay.

Colton only eats 4-5 ounces every 3-4 hours. He has 3 meals though to so it makes a difference. He was only one 3-4 ounces at 6 weeks though.

Although now I make 6oz bottles and MAYBE 1-2 times a day he finishes it. The other times he leaves 1-2 ounces in the bottle.

My health visitor said they should be eating atleast 2.5oz times their weight in a day

Example:
7lb baby = 7 x 2.5 = 17.5oz atleast
