My son is 4 weeks old (almost 5) and drinks 31 to 36 oz of formula a day. He constantly screams that he's hungry. I'm worried that I'm over feeding him, but what do you do when he screams for it? Sometimes he's hungry again an hour and a half after he finishes his bottle. He also spits up a lot....does that mean he's eating too much? My doctor says he won't over feed himself, but the amount he eats just seems like an awful lot. Anyone else have a baby that eats this much at this age?
hungry baby milk is a thicker milk which fills the babies stomach more than normal first milk which is lighter, i wouldn't worry about over feeding as they can't they will just be sick, my son was terrible even 1oz was too much for him at times,
this is hungry baby milk you will more than likely get it somewhere but unsure where talk to your health care provider who should be able to help xx
The problem is after he spits-up he'll ask (more like scream) for more food. He doesn't calm down until after he feels satisfied. Also, sometimes while he eats he fidgets so much that it's hard to feed him. I'm becoming very frustrated. Its like I'm in a vicious cycle. I'm sure being sleep deprived isn't helping! I had the opposite problem with my daughter...she didn't eat enough. I'm not sure which one is worse.
In theory you can't over feed them. As holidaysan said, it will come back up if they dont need it. Have you considered Hungry baby milk?
My LO takes up to 50oz of hungry baby milk a day (although hes 4 months old nearly) xx
I'm so glad to see that another baby is eating so much! My baby girl is almost 5 months old, and has between 37 and 46oz a day! Her doctor is trying to say that she is overweight and needs to have only 30oz a day. Can you imagine how miserable she would be? We tried it and it was terrible. Back to feeding her on demand now!!
