Switching to real nappies at 8 months old, am I mad?

It was always my intention to use real nappies on LO but with the amount of things we needed to buy for LO and christmas being so close to him being due we opted for disposable in the end. Ive found myself saying to DH 'next baby im going to use real nappes' as ive just been working out the cost of nappies and regret not doing it. Anyway I was just thinking even though LO is 8 months old now I could still swap to real nappies now. He wouldnt be able to use them at nursery and I assume my MIL wont be able to get her head round them while shes childminding 2 days a week but 4 days a week is better than none right?

Just a thought anyway, just seeing if there are any small kits for his age range then if we dont get on with them I havent shelled out a few hundred on a birth to potty kit. Any recommendations? Ive only heard reports of Bambino Mio and those were the ones I was looking into.
