Making a 6 ounce bottle...

This is going to sound like the stupidest question

When I'm making a six ounce bottle for my son...

I fill the bottle up to 6 ounces, but by the time I add in the three scoops of formula and mix it, the line is up to 7 ounces...

So, if my son drinks ALL of it, do I count it as a 6 ounce bottle or a 7?

I told you it was a stupid question lol.

This topic has been discussed A LOT!

I count it as 6 because that is how much nutrition has gone in (i.e. 6 scoops) but if my lo just left a little in the bottle I would still count it as 6 as I would know that it was a little over to begin with. My 6oz bottles never come to 7oz tho, maybe 6 and a half at most.
A few of us emailled the uk formula companies with this question in the past and even they couldn't agree!

Oh wow lol. I'm surprised!! I've been counting it as a 6 as well, and my husband had asked me about it the other day. I acted like he was a doofus for asking the question and said "well obviously it is a six!" then I got to thinking about it and wasn't for sure lol. I'm surprised you have the six scoops of formula...I use similac sensitive and on the tub it says for every two ounces of water, you add one scoop of formula. So, 6 ounces of water would equal 3 scoops of formula...but I guess you guys measure differently!

I have noticed that as well. It seems the scoops in the UK packages are smaller and are for one ounce.

I sometimes make 7 ounce bottles and use the "tricky" half scoop maneuver!
