What happens to your breasts if you never breast feed?

If when baby is born a woman does not breastfeed atall, what happens to her breasts? Do they still become sore/engorged? When does the milk dry up??

On day 3, mine became huge, swollen, and a bit uncomfortable. Ice packs help, and the discomfort is very temporary..just a couple days.

Mine didn't really change at all. I remember that a few days after my LO was born they felt a bit more tender but they didn't change in size and they definitely weren't sore or uncomfortable. Strange!

Mine were tender, sore and engorged around days 2-3 post c-section; I wore a sports bra with some breast pads for a few days; the tenderness did go away a few days later, BUT still dripped a little milk for about 3-4wks (on a t-shirt, so wore a bra with breast pads), but only happened when LO was wanting to nurse (must be the instinctive nature of being a mommy; he would turn towards my breast but also my husband's, so, um, baby a little confused too?), but that has stopped now....

best wishes
