Please help - baby is not enjoying feeding!!

I'm getting so frustrated and I don't know what to do!

My LO is 8 weeks old (yesterday) and every bottle is becoming a battle! He fusses a lot, turns his head back and forth and thrashes about sometimes (keeps drinking through this but it's a mission to keep the bottle in!). Not only that, but he just doesn't seem to be taking enough! A few weeks ago (though it may have beena growth spurt I don't know) he was taking 5oz in a bottle fine. Now he is sometimes struggling to get 3-4oz! He gets to half way through and he pushes the bottle out wit his tongue... I burp him and try again, and he either refuses to let the teat in, or he lays there with his mouth open. Sometimes he'll eventually start sucking again and take maybe another 20ml, then push it out or again, or his eyes will start to close, and he won't drink while he's sleepy at all! He is on infant gaviscon for reflux which is working brilliantly, and also DR Browns bottles on number 2 teats, which are meant to be for 3+months but the level1 wouldn't let the gaviscon through.

Bottles are taking up to 40mins, and quite often we reach a point at maybe 110-120ml where he will just no way take anymore and I have to give up. I don't want to force feed him and wish he would just enjoy his milk like he used to! I'm also worried he just isn't getting enough. He has 6 bottles a day usually, and I've worked out he's getting about 750ml on average per day. Sometimes up to 850ml on a good day! He sleeps from about 7pm-5am with just one feed at about 1am.

Should I be worried that he isn't getting enough? Might he have gone off the milk?? I would love to hear from some other mum's of babies George's age to see if he is getting the right amount cause I am really worried!

when my lo was doing that we had to change her formula. but she was also really gassy, fussy, and getting constipated from it so we know that formula was the problem.

is your lo having any other symptoms to indicate it could be the formula? if not, could it be the nipple? maybe letting too much out at once?

My baby girl went through a stage of doing this around 10 weeks, went on for a few weeks, I stil have no idea what it was and she stil does it sometimes but I just persevere with her and she wil eventually take it, I first thought it was wind then someone said it could b her gums irritating her but thought this was a little top young for teething but maybe not! I would ask the health visiotor if it is really bad x x

my ds did that just prior to me deciding to change his formula, from aptimal to cow and gate. that made a huge difference.

the other thing to consider is, the temperature of the feed. ds will often take a little then refuse if the feed is too cold.
