gripe water??????

ok so my lo is 4 weeks tomorro and from day one we have struggled with trapped wind.after every feed we do get some awesome burps but after she is put bk down up come the legs and the grunting....v good at farting too i might add lol

weve had her on infacol for a few weeks but had to switch to dentinox as it didnt do much....every 1 has said how awesome girpe water is so i went and got some....however after reading the possible side affects i terrified to give it to her. has anyone come across any 1 whos lo had a reaction to it and is it ok to give it to her the day she turns 4 weeks or should i wait....i think i worry to much as she was tiny tiny when she was born (still is really ive seen new borns bigger than her in the street bless her )

I am not sure how to answer. I adore gripe water and the difference it has made in our son. I didn't start him on it at 4 weeks though.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Have you experimented with different bottles and teats?

we did but the only one that seems to help a little bit was the tommy tippi size 1...so we kept her on that for now....the others just seemed to make her even worse.what age did you start your lol on gripe water?

I think he was around 10-11 weeks. I am not sure! This "newborn" time really plays tricks with your brain! That and running my 7 year to all his after school activities!

Just saw the "placebo" comment someone else said their doctor made. It truly has helped our son. The "Mommy's Bliss" brand that we buy has ginger in it. Ginger definitely settles your stomach; it's even used for morning sickness. Gripe water has helped with my son's teething pain as well.

I started my son with less than the bottle recommended just as a test for any adverse reaction.

It didn't make any difference for us, moving from tommy tippee to dr browns bottles helped a little but to be honest you probably just need to ride it out til your little ones digestive system matures more, at 12 weeks my LO is much better but at 4 weeks she was really struggling, I thought we would never get through the sleepless nights!

My son that is now 7 had an extreme case of colic that lasted until he was about 5 months old. We never tried gripe water; it didn't used to be available here. I wish we had it then to try, but you're right, in a really bad case I don't think anything but waiting for gastrointestinal maturity will work.

I tried it at four weeks exactly and it was brilliant for us. I've never heard of a bad reaction to it, though as far as I'm aware it's pretty easy to make your own if you Google a recipe so that's always an option if you're concerned
