gave lo first bottle - panicking!

Hi ladies,

My lo is one week old today. I've been bf but gave her her first ff last night. She drank 3oz in less than 30 seconds. She was still hungry so I topped her up with breast. I am worrying my head off because she took it so quickly! Is it ok for her to take that amount of milk in such a short space of time? It was like in seconds! Surely she can't get that amount of milk from me, even in the 15 minutes she usually takes on my breast?

I'm using avent bottles and size 1 teats - the slowest flow they do.

I'm so worried I'm doing it wrong!! Xx

Don't worry my LO was the same at first, she's just hungry!

My LO did this when she first had formula about 3 days old. She probably just wanted to fill up!

my baby has always been a hoover. She would drink 90mls in a minute. I think its one of the main reason she didn't like the boob- too much work for not enough food.

Don't let that fool you into thinking she is extra hungry or that your bm is not enough. A baby when faced with a bottle of milk will hoover it up, whether they have just had a 2 hour bf marathon or not! They like sucking and they like milk!
