I was the same I managed about three weeks of mixed feeding/expressing and I just couldn't do it (serious BF guilt). I pumped for ten minutes either side once a day for another few weeks then just stopped and my boobs were fine. I think the official advise is to drop down more gradually but I'm sure you'll be OK if you keep a close eye.

If you've already been combination feeding then you should be OK to just stop if you want to, I think it's when you've been ebf that it can cause problems to just stop completely. I was combination feeding but stopped breastfeeding a few weeks ago and expressing a week ago and haven't had any pain or anything

glad my mum isn't the only one who keeps telling me her boobs still hurt lol. I was combination feeding for two weeks then just stopped, never occurred to me that wouldn't be ok. I've not had any pain but its now 3 weeks later and I'm still leaking every now and again, usually if he cries. apparently they used to give a tablet to dry the milk up?

really odd huh? my mom did mention she gets pain every so often and did get pain when dom cried once well i havent BF'd for about 4 hours now and no pain, no swelling...nadda. I really do think the drugs are drying me up - i feel awfully guilty about it all tbh - i did leak once badly the other day, tried to get dom to drain it,but he came flying off in a rage of hunger lol. I kinda guess they'd stop the tablet though, like they do everything else atm haha. Im meant to start my first bottlefeeding night tonight, and i don't know if i can bring myself to do it, its weird, i want to breastfeed him and end up with him upset and making myself upset, but theres something in me that MAKES me want to try, and i end up guilty and tearful when i see him howling his lungs off for more...he then ends up in our bed with my boob just by his face and he literally suckles every 30 mins to try get something out...which i *know* isn't good and a bad habit i should nip in the bud....i guess its kinda depressed me but i don't generally 'feel' depressed IFYKWIM?

It's hard isn't it... Towards the end of when I combination fed DD would get sooo frustrated with my boobs, she'd latch on but only stay on for maybe a minute or 2 before having a screaming fit... Think she'd got accustomed to the faster/easier flow of bottles. It's such an emotive decision to stop breastfeeding I think, even partially *hugs*

I was wondering the same - equally I had to formula feed as he wasn;t latching on and was jaundiced. I was expressing for 3 weeks and just couldn;t cope anymore and was struggling to bond with him as I spent the whole day timing it around expressing. My boobs now feel full even though i didn't just stop I did have a couple of days of expressing less.

That's exactly what my little man did. I wanted to use the pump so my husband could feed and bond with baby too.. so once he had a bottle, he was too impatient to wait on the breast. So I pumped for the first 3 weeks basically and as of today he's on all formula. And yes, it's crazy how much of an emotional decision it is not to breast feed. I didn't even think I'd want to breast feed but I told myself I would try it. There's just something about it that makes me feel sufficient.. like fulfilling that I can provide everything he needs.. oh well.. they grow up so fast =(
