How to Indicate a Formula Sensitivity?

I recently switched my LO over to formula. The first stuff was a regular milk based and I thought it was bothering him so I switched to a sensitive milk based formula and he seems to be doing well except after perhaps 1 or 2 feedings in a 24 hour period. (Has 3-4 oz ever 2 hours). He will cry and wail out for 30 minutes to an hour but not after every feeding. He is really good at night. Takes his bottle and goes right back to sleep. These incidents are most likely to happen during the day.

My brother and sister in-laws keep suggesting the very expensive, hypo-allergenic formula Alimentum but they never tried soy on their kids. I am all for trying soy but is there even a problem. Maybe he just gets crabby twice a day.

If my LO had a sensitivity to formula, wouldn't he cry out after every feeding?

Soya milk isn't recommended for babies under 6 months (yes, they do say from birth on the bottle but if you ring the companies they tell you something different it seems) and I was told not for boys. Apparently the levels of hormones in soya are too high.....

Most doctors don't recommend soy and if a baby has problems with regular milk based formula, they often have it with soy formula as well.

My girl has a formula intolerance, but she wasn't particularly fussy - she just had diarrhea 5-6 times a day. She is now on Alimentum and is fine.

My son also had issues and projectile vomited and was extremely fussy. We also had to put him on Alimentum.

I'd really talk to your pediatrician about it if possible. It is much easier to figure out what the problem is if you have a specific plan and work through it, rather than just switching formulas.

The reality is though, that most times, a formula change doesn't fix things. When we switched to formula Breanna cried a lot at first, but mostly because she was eating more than she was used to.

Good luck!

All babies pretty much, have a fussy time at one point during the day it doesn't mean they have an allergy. I personally wouldn't switch based on this alone, a true allergy or intolerance has do many other symptoms xx
