Now to be serious

I was just wondering if any of you have noticed any good or bad differences between Canada or the UK, just by visiting or from things you have heard or spoke about on here? No major differences.....the biggest thing I found was how close all your provinces (???) are to one another. It would take me 2 days to get to Tyff......it just baffles me how close you are all to one another.

Do you think the cost of living is cheaper where you are? It all depends on where you live. Housing where I am from is a lot more expensive than out east but the wages are higher so it balances out. Where are you thinking of moving? I could PM you my monthly costs and you could decide

How do you find your healthcare over there? Compared to the states I have no complaints. Sure we could use doctors who had more time but once you find a good GP you are golden.

Is there anything major you think we should consider before moving there? Are you willing to leave your family to come all the way here. Sure you would have Wendy (and me ) but its a far way to go and not see your family....flights are pricey!!

TBH I rarely see my family much anyway! I would probably see them more if I moved overseas! (cheap holiday opportunites!)
wages and costs just sound pretty much the same as here, closer to citys you are the cost of living rises but then wages do even it out.

So he shouldn't have a problem finding a job out West. Maybe Pinkmac or her hubby would have some answers about Saskatchewan. They are having a boom right now. Alberta was, but it died out quite a bit.

I live in the east, its really cheap here but jobs SUCK. Its damn near impossible to get a job that isn't in a store.

Also, you need to keep in mind the climate. It gets really, really, really cold here in the winter. In some places it gets colder than -50 degrees celcius.

It gets super cold here too. The coldest I felt was -62c (that was with the windchill though)

Brrr! Never fun when you step outside and your nostrils stick together and you can't breathe!

I live in eastern ontario and our cost of living seems to be alot lower. I know there are quite a few people who live out this way and commute to the bigger cities to work.

I like where I live, I like ontario. We have taxes, but I think our healthcare is quite reasonable... Ya, there is a shortage of doctors but we had 2 new clinics open up in my area this year with doctors and nurse practitioners.

We have midwives etc. In regards to care, I do think we get better care in hospitals... at least at my hospital it is fairly good compared to what ive read on here about the uk hospitals.

I also must say that all in all our health professionals seem to be much mor epro-choice about alot of things and maybe a little less pushy. We are always very up to date on research etc too.

My dad was just in Labrador & Newfoundland, and in one or the other he got off the ferry to 6 inches of snow
