should I report this? - Tailgaiting speeder who shouted at my dad

On the way home from ym dads tonight we were just leaving Newmachar when he noticed this guy (REG SP51 Fwv - A bronze skoda octavia ambiente (thanks car spotter! - new you had a use!!)) like right up his bumper - I turned and looked and I could just see the tops of his lights (dad has a jeep grand cherokee). So I gave him the finger and motioned for him to back off - as I was tired and we had emma on board and dad was already doing about 50 and there was a guy in front of him, The guy then gave me the finger back (Well you would do) and wouldnt back off so dad put his rear fog lights on - and that made him back off. He then over took us and cut in front of us sharply so dad flashed him.

Next thing the guy clams on the brakes and opens the car door so we have to brake to - and he come and starts shouting at my dad for being a tosser for putting his fog lights on - and was my dad trying to blind him etc etc and saying he had a bairn in the car (which must be why he was tailgaiting us?!) so dad jsut said if you hadnt been that far up my bumper it wouldnt have dazzled you!

Anyway the guy then speeds off - we were doing 60-65 and he was no where to be seen!! We then spotted him again at dyce where he was tailgaiting someone else! then again just coming out of stoneywood.

He headed up North Anderson drive - so i dunno, maybe he was rushing a child to a&e? I doubt it as when my dad put on the fog lights I saw the lady in the front seat SMILING and laughing!

Dunno if he is local to Newmachar - hope not as I am a worrier and worry he might do something to dads car.

My mates say I should report him. Should I? Cos dad just wants to leave it.....but I feel that child or no child in his car he was driving like a tw@T and dangerously!

i guess they might keep an eye out for him, but i think with drivers unless there is an accident or safety camera, speed camera ect then they have to see it for them selfs. Maybe someone who works for the police or knows someone might have more insight.

Also it depends if anyone would come out to see the picture of the man and the car and if they would put it on record

OH is a Police Officer so I just asked him.

Down here (Surrey) the law is different to back home but if it was here, he said yes, you could report it and they would eventually get round to seeing him.

They take dangerous driving, threatning behaviour etc quite seriously round here and you can go into a station and report it.

It's up to you whether you want to but if you were here, then you definitely could and he would get a visit.....

Hiya, If you report it to Grampian you'll not get anything back from them, they are useless for road rage. On a good note though, my hubby uses that road every morning and if he sees that guy being bad again, we'll report him too.

I had a similar incident 3 weeks ago driving down the a90, around Perth, a Q7 was tailgating me whilst I was over taking a lorry. So I slowed a little a pulled back into the slow lane when possible. The Q7 over took me, slammed his brakes on to a complete stop, got out to yell at me. I was completely stationary on a dual carriageway with a HGV coming at me from behind. I just about managed to pull away from him in the other lane and avoiding having a hgv rammed up my backside.

I reckon he should be hung for doing that.
