Poorly dog :(

I think my wee beagle is sick

He's been behaving strangely all day. When I came down this morning, he had had 2 wee sicks on the kitchen floor. Hes now really, really quiet (which is so unlike him) and keeps going to sleep in odd places - behind the christmas tree, underneath the coffee table. His tummy is also making the strangest gurgling noises.

OH says that maybe he is feeling left out, but why today? LO has been here almost 3 weeks now...

I had a feel of his tummy and it doesnt feel tender or anything. Think we should bring him to the vets? I know that this shouldn't even matter, but I know we'll be charged about £40 if we do bring him to be checked out and if hes not actually sick, its something I would rather not pay this close to christmas :/

Hes nearly 2 and no, I don't think hes been wormed, unless it came with his other medication he got as a puppy.

Hes up sitting beside me now but soooo quiet. Its really unlike him.. :/

It isn't likely to be worms. It is much more likely he got into something and ate something he shouldn't have. Beagles are especially prone to this.

Is he eating? Drinking? Has he vomitted again?

really?

ooook, must ring the vet NOW then. He is actually due an update on his vaccinations, but he was sick at the time he was due them and the vet didn't want to give him the vaccinations AND antibiotics. Crap

He just drank a whole pile of water and I don't think hes been sick since this morning. Hes just looking very sorry for himself :/

He has eaten stuff in the past, which has made him sick but I'm so careful these days about leaving stuff where he can get it. The only thing new in the last week is the christmas tree - hope he hasn't eaten any of the decorations

Drinking water is good. Have you offered food? Did he eat it?

I would watch him one more day. If he doesn't vomit, eats and drinks normally, then I wouldn't rush off to the vet. If he has normal poos and pees, that is a good sign, too.

If he continues to vomit, doesn't poo or has a hard time pooing (or something weird is in it), then I would ring the vet. If he goes for more than 24 hours without eating or drinking, call the vet. If he vomits anything weird, call the vet.

Otherwise, he probably just has an upset tummy and will come out of it. My beagle does this all the time. If he continues to be lethargic for more than a few days, then I would call the vet.

(I used to be a vet tech and a zookeeper for YEARS and these are the general things that are good tip offs for needing vet help)

I put a bit of food in his bowl but he hasn't touched it yet, or his dentastick :/

He did look marginally happier though when I put on a hoodie about half an hour ago - I think he thought he was getting out for a walk! I'll take him out when OH comes home and see if that perks him up a bit. Fingers crossed it isn't something more serious. Thanks
