Kindle fire

Brought this for the boys. How do I lock it down so they can't make any purchases at all?

It's the not kids one (as that was £100 and the fire 7 was £30 in the sale for the same thing pretty much)

Register it as normal in your name with your amazon account. Swipe down from the top to get to settings, go to parental controls. You can block access to amazon stores, password protect purchases and block content. x

You can set up a child's profile on them. Go on to your Amazon account & there is a family section. Set up the child's account then you can add their profile to the tablets.

On the tablet, you can either log into your profile (as the adult) with a security setting (password/PIN) or they can click their name and goes into their profile or you click 'Fire for Kids' app and set it up via that. To add apps, books etc, you have download them through your account and 'share' them with the childs profile.

I have it set up as the pp said under parental controls in my profile so if they manage to get past my security, they still can't download anything.

Once you set the kids profiles up (easiest way is via Fire for Kids app) you can sign up for a free month of Amazons Kids (basically Prime TV for Kids). I was planning on trying it and seeing if it's worth paying for (few £ per month).

The only difference between the £30 fire & the kids £100 fire is you get a years subscription to Amazon for Kids & a cover for the tablet.
