I'm trying to convince DH that a slow cooker would be a good investment. I've never used one but I hate cooking, DH usually cooks but works away twice a week overnight so I want to start cooking meals for me and the girls that a healthy but also means I don't need to be in the kitchen all evening.
I've noticed a lot of you mention slow cookers on the dinner thread, so give me ideas of what we can cook....we mainly buy chicken, mince, sausages and fish (salmon/tuna). I'm not keen on red meat.
They are great! You can just put everything in in the morning and it cooks over the day. It's good as my husband works shifts so we eat at different times and can just take a portion of the meal out of it when we want it. I like making things like beef/chicken casserole in it.
I love the slow cooker. Ds has an afterschool activity once a week. By the time we get home its almost bedtime. I just throw whatever in and its ready to be dished up once we get through the door. Kids love slow cooked minted lamb, we do enchiladas, stews, curry etc. Also handy for days when oh is at work. It means his food is ready and hot when he walks in at 10.30pm. Instead of me having to cook again for him. It gets a lot more use in the winter though. I also love how the house smells amazing when you walk in after a busy day out and you just want to eat. It feels a bit like iv cheated.
