Texas road trip

Anyone been to/live in Texas? My husband and I are planning a 2 week road trip and looking for recommendations for things to do, wondering if it's worth driving out to Big Bend.

Never been to big bend, but the river walk in San Antonio is loads of fun, and Austin is only about three hours away where there is lots of live music every night also lake Travis is really nice. There is a town called wimberly that is beautiful and lots of bed and breakfasts to stay at, super romantic! Port Aransis is fun too.Galveston is fun, the beaches aren't super nice but it's a fun place and they will have Mardi Gras going on soon. Really there is so many places in Texas, it's huge!

Thank you, it's so hard to narrow it down as we're only going for 2 weeks, that's why I'm not sure if it's worth driving out to big bend as it's quite a diversion!

Yeah it would be really hard to do a lot in only two weeks considering it takes days to drive from one side of the state to the other. I hope someone can advise you on big bend, I was born in Texas and lived there until I was 24 but never made it to big bend!

We were going to just do Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas which seems pretty do-able but love the idea of big bend and also the gulf coast, now I want to go to the places you've mentioned argh!!

Check out www.citypass.com, there are discounted tickets for stuff in Dallas and Houston. It's like buying a package deal. We did the one in Atlanta and it was really worth the money, it saved us tons!

Space center Houston is fun, and if you get a chance definatly go to Kemah boardwalk. If you head south down hwy 45 from Houston it won't take very long to get to Galveston depending on where your driving from should be an hour or two. That could be a day trip for you.

And when your in Dallas go to the reunion tower, it's like 400 feet up and you can go out on the observation deck. And on the same road is where president Kennedy was shot, sounds morbid maybe, but I thought it was an interesting place to go see. There is a museum in the building he was shot from, and the day we went someone had pulled up in a lincoln continental that was an exact replica of the presidents car.

Also highly recommend CityPass. We did this in Tampa last year and got to go to 5 different aquariums, theme parks, zoos, etc for what one place would have cost. It was a huge amount of savings.

Thank you will look into city pass.

I really need to knock off one place on our list:

Houston
San Antonio
Big Bend
Austin (although not this one as seeing F1)
Dallas
Galveston (or somewhere on coast)

Big Bend is the most awkward, but it looks so beautiful and as the rest is cities would be nice to break up with somewhere scenic? Going to google wimberley too.
