Bite advice. What would you do?

My OH was bitten (we think) at some time yesterday. Last night we noticed a red mark on his arm when it started to feel sore. It was initially the size of a 50p piece and overnight doubled in size. This morning he dotted the edge of the red mark and itís grown at least another 2 inches since then. His arm is really swollen and hot and he keeps getting sharp stinging pains through it.
Is it worth going to a&e tonight or will he be ok to wait til the morning? Iím in panic mode but heís pretty laid back about it although I can tell itís causing him some pain and discomfort!

If it was me I’d want to get it seen as it spread so much. Has he taken any allergy medication?
I’m not sure it’s a a&e issue but I’d definitely ring 111 and speak to them in our area you’d get a out of hour gp appointment with in the hour often quicker than a&e
Hope he’s ok.

Yes heís had antihistamines last night and today and put cream on too. By a&e I did mean the 24hr walk in clinic itís at our local a&e but separate. He says he will go tomorrow but I donít feel comfortable waiting!

It does look nasty but I'm not sure what anyone can really do about it? I think painkillers and anti histamine are the way to go

I would be concerned about how quickly it is spreading, getting seen sooner than later would be better.

I wouldn’t say it was an A&E matter personally but you’ll know best

My mum reacts to horse flies and it gets absolutely massive, red and hot. The only thing she’s ever been told to do is take anti histamines and pain killers for discomfort because unless you’re severely allergic (you’d know by now) there’s not much that can be done. A cold compress usually helps too.

I would definitely be going to the walk in centre with that and see what they say . I'd be concerned with the amount it's spread and after being given an anti histamine . His arm looks quite swollen too .
DD2 got stung by a bee in the summer and it came up like that . I panicked as she has allergies anyway !

Hope he's ok and you find out what it was !

We just rang 111 she said heís got to go over to the walk in clinic because of how itís spreading. She thinks he may have an infection and need antibiotics but obviously itís hard to tell on the phone but she was saying itís important he goes as if it enters his blood stream and turns into sepsis itís extremely dangerous. He still wants to wait til morning, men!

I'd get that seen to as it could be cellulitis.
