I bought something from Ebay and when it finally arrived the other day it was faulty. I contacted the seller and she agreed to give me a refund if i return the item but the problem i have is that the postage was quite expensive and i am unsure about where the responsibility to pay it lies. Should she pay it or me? The item cost me £75 plus £10 postage so will cost me £10 to send it back and then as far as i know she will only refund me the £75 so i will lose out on £20, is this right? doesn't seem fair to me
Also, do i need to open a paypal dispute for the refund even if she is co-operating?
sorry but you wont get the postage back
paypal wont make her refund the postage
if she hasn't automatically refunded after couple of days open dispute and put it it seller agreed refund. it'll send a message to seller where they can approve refund. i did this as seller didnt refund straight away even though they emailled me saying they would turns out they didnt know how.
..when i used to sell if id messed up and sent the wrong item or something then i would without hesitation refund the original and return postage,
But if it was someone who had just changed there minds then i wouldn't!
Shes not obliged to refund the postage but she might just because its the right thing to do.
Like the others said tho if you hear nothing after a few days then you will have to open a claim xxx
If you are paying Via paypal, you can open a dispute to request for refund to what amount you bought it for. Then seller will accept it. If you feel there is no communication between them, you can esclates the claim to paypal. They will find you in favour. xxx Hope it helps.
It sucks that you dont get postage back but in all fairness the seller does not get to keep the postage.. Although she could atlest pay for you to return it so your only £10 down since you returning it could be good for her so she can fix it or w.e.
Thats why if its something i can get fixed i ask for a part refund.
