OH and another accident

OH was out tonight and was due home at 2:30 ish. I fell asleep
and he came in just before 4am and woke me up. Poor bloke was White as a sheet, shaking and in shock. He missed the transport home, so had to get a a taxi. Phoned 3 places before he got one, then had to go to 2 cashpoints before he got one that was working.

The road home is a quiet country road, especially at his time. As OHs taxi is on the way back, OH spots a car gone off the road with lights on and tells driver to stop.

Turns out OH is first on scene to a very nasty accident. Male driver, no passengers and car looks like it's flipped a few times and OH said you could just about tell it was a car. OH called 999 while holding the guys head back. OH doesn't know if he will survive don't want to repeat the details of what OH saw but was a bad crash and OH saw a
lot. All 3 emergency services got there and he was cut out of the car then OH left and came home.

The car involved was the exact same make, model and colour of my sisters car that we crashed this week. Which has made it hard for OH I think. It is a very common car though.

Have told OH that he was obviously meant to be there and help. Does anyone know if he will be able to ring the hospital/police and speak to someone about the accident? The police didn't take his details at the time and I think OH is stressing about what is going to happn to him

Omg sorry to hear that hope your OH is ok, possibly suffering from shock. Sadly the hospital won't give details on the mans condition, for confidentiality reasons and also news paper reporters do tend to phone upposing as relatives( worked in ITU and witnessed that loads). Maybe he could contact police for some sorta update, really suprised they didn't take OH details as he was first on the scene to the accident. Hope everything turns out ok, poor lad. X

Yeah I thought the same about patient confidentiality. He'll be ringing the police tomorrow to see if they want a statement. I'm not sure why they didn't take one at the time but he said it was very full on as the man was in a bad way. I agree he must be on shock, he keeps saying he needs to know if the guy if going to pull through awful awful accident and my heart goes out to that poor mans family.

I think he should call the police, just to offer his details should he be required to give a statement at any time. The hospital is unlikely to give out information, but I think the police would be more willing to give him an idea of how the poor guy is x

Yeah I would call the police. They are more than likely keeping tabs on how the guy is and will probably be more helpful

Hey hun, first off, for you two, what a week you two have had.

I asked Boyo how they dealt with that sort of situation and he said they will want to speak to Mark at some point as a witness so if he didn't give any details last night then he should call them today.

As for his condition, the Force Boyo works for is pretty good. If he ever gets those calls, he, and most other Officers are aware that it is usually very traumatic for the people like Mark who saw it and so although will not give names etc, they will say roughly what state the person is in as it helps with them dealing with the whole situation. He is more likely to get an update from the Police than the hospital.

I hope all ends well hun

I think the police would be able to let him know how the bloke is doing. The hospital cant unless you are family.

Hope your OH is ok. That must have been some shock x

OH has spoken to someone on the non-emergency line (don't think they are police officers?). Apparently the police officers involved in the case are on nights until Tuesday, so will ring then if they need to come and take a statement. However, the woman said it's very 'clear cut' what happened. OH asked about his condition, and she said she can't discuss that with him.
