stupid tesco and there stupid alarms!

My DH has just had to go into work as his store alarm has gone off (hes a duty manager), I understand that it is part of his job but there is 2 other people who could go to these call outs but conveniently they dont answer their phones at night!!!!

He called the silly cow who alarmed up (this is the second time its happened after she has locked up) and she said she cant come back as she doesnt have enough petrol! well bloody get some and turn around!

He isnt even supposed to be there by himself as its clearly dangerous but do his colleagues care. nope!!

I would of thought a security company would be in charge of this, as like you say you are not meant to go in alone on H&S reasons.
I'm only with a small company but as H&S officer I pointed this out when a couple of girls used to be on call for the alarm system, and now a firm key hold, it makes sense to pay someone to do it. If this is Tescos, then I'm shocked!

Its the same in any store. A security company handle the alarms but its up to the managers to go to store. I guess they dont want someone else to have access to the keys to the shop as well as having access to the alarm codes etc.

There is supposed to be 2 people who go and do a visual check around the building and call the police but my DH is the only one to answer his phone when they call

I too hated having to deal with this at my work. My boss would never answer the phone and he had me down as the second person to call if something was going on, mind you he lived 5 mins away and I lived about 15 mins away.

Same here. We live 30 minutes away from his work but the other DM lives about 5 minutes away.

Hes going to be at least 4 hours now as they will have to send a bloody engineer out. I used to go with him but obviously cant now. Was quite fun I got to read all the magazines and eat biscuits

I used to make OH come with me as I didn't want to go in alone for obvious reasons and there was no one else to go with me.

Can't believe that. Isn't tescos a huge supermarket chain? Surely they would (or should) have a security company that does all that sort of thing. How often does this happen?

In the last 2 years we have been on probably 10 call outs only one of them was an actual brake in.

I guess tesco are too cheap to hire a outside company

Yeah luckily our work has never gone off due to break ins. The company that does the security can listen when it is turned on, as they got me to listen on the phone to what they could hear as something was making weird noises but that is the extent of their ability.
