Any dog breeders (or do u breed ur dog out)...

I have a 6 year old cavalier king charles spaniel and a lady who lives near has asked if we would be interested in breeding him with her bitch. I have never really thought about it before but it got me thinking and I think it would be a good idea. Not only for him to have a bit of a social life, but also because I'd love to have another and what better than one of his own pups.

I'm not doing it for the money as a main factor, as I say, its purely for the reasons above but even so, what do you think the deal should be? It wouldnt be fair for her bitch to have say 6 pups, the lady make £400 a pup and I just get the one pup. My dad said that her bitch will be doing the hard work therefore I will be lucky with just the one pup, leaving her to do a she pleases with the others..

I know theres a lot of factors but do you think my dad is right or should it be 50/50 or 25/75?

I'm clueless with all this

usuallu when you stud a dog out they pay you say 150

if you wanted hakf the pups you would need to go half on the vet bills

Normally you take a pup or the price of one pup.

Is your dog KC registered and had all recent health checks? Has the bitch? Do they have the money to sort things out if the bitch needs emergency care with regards to deliver? How old is the Bitch?

Lots to think about. Also, does she have people interested in potential pups?

ah ok thanks hun... no, as I say, I only really want one pup. I just didn't know how it worked so if she would be selling each for £400 and I should be getting half then I would wanna know I may just ask if I can have one of the pups then (based on the presumption that they have more than one of course)

I'm not sure at the min, she only showed her interest in my dog recently. We both take them to the same dog groomer. She has been looking for a potential male for a while and saw my dog and fell in love with him so we still need to discuss it.. Ive jumped the gun a bit by asking this. I was just curious really. I think the bitch is about 3??!! or so my dad said but I'm not 100% sure about anything until I speak to the owner. My dog has a slight heart murmur. It has never effected his life but even so (this is one of the reasons I have never thought to breed him). I'm not sure if this is hereditary? Thats something else I need to look into first as I wouldn't want poorly pups to be born!!

Just looked on google. The average litter size is 4 pups. Can be anything between 2 and 6

I believe that the owner is wanting a Ruby, therefore isn't really doing it for the money factor either. Obviously, that may not happen but its her aim! She doesn't seem like she is doing it for selfish reasons etc.. she is a genuine dog lover and has 2 cavs already so I don't think she would breed unhealthy dogs just for the money which is something that I would no way do!
