I am type 1 diabetic and i am currently 29 weeks pregnant. I am starting to really think about the birth of my lil princess, and as much as i would absoloutly LOVE to deliver naturally, im am slowly coming round to the fact that I may just need to have a c-section...
so heres my question: What are you ladies doing?? i am beginning to feel a bit more comfortable if i actually ELECT to do a ceaser rather than try and then need an emergency c-section.... i jsut dont know. ive asked my drs and watnot but they have tip toed around the question, i think they are holding off a bit longer till im a bit further on, but i really wanna make my decision soon.
I have my 30 week scan on the 10th July so will know more on how bubs is growing and wat not. but i still keep going back to ..... I would rather plan a c-section than need one suddenly
please help and give me your advice on either wat you have done previously or wat you plan to do??
Hey if you can deliver naturally i would do it naturally i personally have no choice in the matter but would of loved to have gone and done it naturally .
are your blood sugars under control? If they are i see no reason why you should elect to have a c-sectioni have had 3 kids 2 naturally and 1 by emergency c-section have had diabetes with all of them and my biggest baby has been 7p 4oz so no bigger than any other baby
I have been wondering the same thing. First pregnancy was an emergency c section at 29 weeks 1 day (my daughter passed away 6 days later due to trisomy 18).
I got pregnant 6 months to the day of giving birth. I have gd, and my sugars are under control. I wanted a natural birth, but everyone is trying to get me to have a c section. My doctors are not weighing in too much, just enough to say that as of right now, it's possible.
My family (they are nuts, but that's my opinion) feel c sections are more controlled and safer. My mom tried to have both my sister and I vaginally and ended up with emergency c sections, so she tells me to have a c sections. My mother in law had to have forceps used and my husband has some muscle damage in his face (not enough to notice) and she says c section babies come out cuter. They have made my husband afraid of me having a vaginal birth. He says he will do what I want, and I want to make him comfortable.
I try to tell them that a c section is 4 days in the hospital instead of 2 and unless the baby needs to stay in the hospital (which doesn't seem to be the case) I want to be out as soon as I can.
I also wondered, do they keep babies born to mother's on insulin in the nursery longer? I am on nph insulin because my fastings are always a little high. But no short acting insulin and my doctors have been impressed with how much control I have had on my blood sugars.
I haven't found out much information on the subject and would really appreciate any information I could get.
This is all I know after a c section there is a higher risk of your uterus rupturing during in labor they say you should wait to years after a c section to fall pregnant of you want to try naturally because of the scaring ( this is what I was told after my daughter) but that's all i know
Thanks ladies I really appreciate the advice, I'm still a bit confused and overwhelmed especially as this topic can cause some very crazy and opinionated views ..... I feel that I defiantly could do it naturally but I also was diagnosed as a britall diabetic, which causes me to be a lil ore scarred on the whole will I be ok side of things..... My levels are going really well at the moment which I'm very proud of, so I'm gonna sit on it for a bit longer.
Viper bunny I'm with u on the whole drs are very blah say at the moment ....I think they are trying to leave at long as possible to get down to the dirty business until they physiaally need to but I just want all the info I can get so that I can make a decision with ease and confidence. I want best things for both sides etc. I would ultimately love to try but I also don't really want to have an emergency c section....... Who knows I may not even need it and it could be the easiest birth ever. My parents are with the view that watever I choose will be right and they would ultimately also love me to natural but at the same time most things are pointing towards ceaser for Healy delivery of both of us..... My hubby supports watever I choose but is also worried for the diabetes side of things.
I dunno just would love as much info as possible likes babe so stick around hopefully we will get some more advice from ladies on here we shall see
