subchronic hematoma

i have been diagnosed with a hematoma today. i am 6 weeks 3 days and the baby had a heart beat and yolk sac all in right place. i have been bleeding thats why i went for and early scan. really worried as the hematoma is putting pressure on the sac and making it slightly abnormal shape. the hematoma measures 3 cm, alot bigger than the sac. so scared and worried about it. there hoping cos the baby grows at a rapid rate in the first 12 weeks that it will push the hematoma away. i really hope so as i have had 2 miscarriages before and dont wanna go through it again.got another scan next thursday. anybody else in same position? if so did u have a good out come? i had this with my last daughter and it turned out ok. please anyone????

there is a thread about this just down on this forum, may be worth a read....basically, yes, I had one, I too was spotting and had a scan and they put that down as the cause. At my 12 week NT scan, there was no sign of it anymore. I was told that in many cases it reabsorbs into the body and there is little cause for worry. But it could be an indication of something wrong. It's crap because you can't really do anything about it, just wait and fingers crossed it sorts itself out.

Hi, I was diagnosed with SCH at 5 weeks also and experienced on/off bleeding until 15 weeks. The flow often varied from very heavy to no more than spotting - it's scary. However, the hematoma does not cause any distress to your baby and most will simply bleed out or reabsorb. Usually by 20 weeks, it will have disappeared. I have my 20 week scan next week, so keeping everything crossed! There is a group in the lounge area, i would recommend each of you to have a look - the other ladies are incredibly supportive

i am so scared though maisiemoo because the sac is slightly abnormal shape, scan lady seems to think its the pressure of the clot making the sac like that, as baby is fine with strong heartbeat. i am so scared and dont know wat to think and i have been through this before. its horrible because u dont have any control over these things. xxx

Completely understand - it's all bit of a head fuck really. At 5/6 weeks my hematoma measured 5cm and I bled for around 3 weeks. My only previous experience of pregnancy has been MS and i swear, i've never been more scared and was convinced of only one outcome. However, I came round to the thinking that very day my baby is getting stronger. Do you have further scans booked in? my EPU scheduled me in every two weeks. It's important that you take things easy and it's really positive that your baby's heartbeat is strong. I know it's hard, but keep the faith xxxx

Well my first occurred at 5 weeks, i bled for 3 weeks and then had a week off, then another week on. Then at 12 weeks, i experienced a huge bleed where they found another one. At this stage, i really thought this is it. I also experienced very light cramping too, which i have learnt isn't uncommon with SCH. So i bled until around 15 weeks and haven't had anything since. So its either reabsorbed or the growth of babes pushed it all out - i guess i will find out with my next scan! Mine were close to gest sac. At 3cm, yours like mine would be considered small. Other women have written about clots being 7/10cm +

I hope everything goes well with your scan. Make sure you put your feet up and get plenty of rest! xxx
