Diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis...is there any hope?

I was diagnosed with BV on Tuesday. I've since read all kinds of terrible things on the internet regarding BV. Basically it sounds hopeless, that if you have this you will loose your baby to miscarriage or PROM. I'm freaking out now. I thought I might be in the safe zone at 18 weeks but apparently not anymore. They gave me antibiotics but many internet sites say the damage is already done after 12 weeks

Didnt want to read and run. I dont know much about this, but i'd listen to what your doctor says over what you can read on the internet.
I wish you lots of luck and love and I'll keep you in my prayers.

of course there is hope. Take the antibiotics and then go back to doctor to make sure that it has cleared up. Stop looking at the internet. and just listen to your dr

I never heard that bv can kill ur baby I know left untreated can lead to premature labor but thats only id left untreated pregnant and women who not pregnant are diagnoised with bv everyday its not very serious if treated its just an imbalance with your ph system n ur case probably cuz of tha pregnancy they have a gel called REPHRESH its like $20 a box and it does work to keep the bv away but since ur pregnant I would ask 1st before using that product.......i hope that helps

Oh hun, I got BV ALL the time with my first. As soon as I started to smell fishy I called my doctor and they tested and would give me antibiotics. You just have to be "in tune" with your body. I did have my LO early, but it was due to other complications and not BV. But as long as you are in tune with your body you should be fine!! I had it once for a month and everything was fine!

Google is not your friend!! Bv is treatable and your uterus is a nicely closed and anti bacterial playground for your baby, the risk is only when the infection can get to the baby hence the antibiotics, take them and go get checked again and please stop panicking it isn't good for baby.

I've had BV twice this pregnancy and have also read pretty much everything on the internet. It's definitely true that having BV increases your risk of PROM or preterm labor or miscarriage, BUT BV is sooooooooooo common in pregnancy, and it seems as though it would have to be untreated for those things to happen. Now that you've been diagnosed it will be taken care of! I was so worried when I got it during 2nd tri but the antibiotics weren't bad and it was gone when they tested me 4 weeks later. Now I got diagnosed with it again...so make sure you get tested regularly as it as a tendency to come back.

But neither doctor I saw about it seemed concerned at all and both stressed how common it is.
