Hypoplastic heart syndrome

My daughter has been diagnose with unilateral ventricle with single flow output, meaning the heart only has one output to function the blood and oxygen to the body and lungs instead of two, as a result the blood and oxygen are getting mixed up in her heart.

I've been told this sounds like hypoplastic heart syndrome I am wondering if there are any mums out ther whose baby has had this and what the outcOme was?

Any info or input would be appreciated thanks heaps

I had a baby with vsd and asd. Later they found out it was much more complicated than a vsd. Through that I have met other moms with HPLHS, your baby will need surgery and or a new heart.

One of my partners friends has a son with HPLHS and he had to have surgery as a baby and will need another op or two in the future but he is a perfectly healthy and active toddler.

I hope everything turns out as well as possible for you

Hello Tinks. I'm 31 weeks pregnant with twins, one boy one girl. My baby boy has HPLHS. It was a huge blow finding this out and making our decsions. I found out the same day I learned I needed a cerclage because my cervix was short and week! Talk about a bad day heh. Anyway, we've decided if he is otherwise healthy and strong when he is born that we are going to go ahead and do the 3 surgeries. It is such a stressful diagnosis! We live in a state where the surgeries are not availiable so to add to the stress my baby will be 12 hours away from home. I'm not sure if I'll be able to take my little girl with me because she most likely will be in the NICU for depending on when they are born.

Have you decided what you will do? We were given the choice of comfort care which we thought we'd do at first but decided not to if he is otherwise in fair health. Have you found any good support websites for HPLHS? Hope you are well.
