Hi ladies,

I'm sorry for the delay

I went for my scan and the baby's growth seems to be fine, they also did a check on my uterine arteries as another check to see if I could develop pre-eclampsia/prem birth, that was ok too. They do seem to rush through my scans which is annoying but I saw my consultant straight after and he was happy with the growth and my BP etc. I'm soo glad everything is ok, I couldn't lose another baby. I have another 2 or 3 scans between now and my due date and my consultant did say I should take i easy as I have a long way to go I don't think he was trying to worry he as he is a nice guy.

I also saw my midwife yesterday, she took blood from me to test for iron, glucose and pre-eclampsia, as they do every 4 weeks or so. She took the blood from my hand but it wasn't too bad I am going to call for the results tomorrow. I also need a GTT at 28 weeks. I have heard they taste horrible

I'm glad everyone is ok and that mostly the SUA is an isolated symptom for everyone. Keep the updates coming, you all keep me going and hopeful and I hope I do the same for you

Hi ladies

I too at my 20 week scan found out my baby had a SUA. I got given no information so went home and googled it and scared myself stupid.

Managed to get a consultant appt and was told that as both the 12 and 20 week scan otherwise looked normal and my combined blood results were good the main concern was baby's growth.

I had a couple of additional scans which showed good growth. Anyway I had a very healthy baby boy 5 weeks ago, 12 days late weighing 10lb 10oz!! I can only wonder what size he would have been with the right plumbing!

I hope this reassures some of you. I worried about it every day of my pregnancy once I found out, and that was mainly due to lack of info.

xx

Hi Ladies and NewlyMrs,
I too was diagnosed with the same condition and am still awaiting the arrival of my little guy. I have had all the tests with the exception of an amnio and everything has been perfect up to this point!!!! I am 38 wks now and 39 in 3 days. His last measurement was 5 pounds 11 ounzes but for me thats a normal weight. I have two daughters and both them were 6 pds 13/14 oz. I am so excited to see him when he gets here im getting soooo anxious!!! At first, I was scared to death and read all the crap on the internet about SUA. Most of the cases studies were done on stillborns or aborted babies so I chose not to believe any of it. I am hoping still with delivery he will be fine and I am hoping all will be good with your bundle of Joy as well!!!! Good luck and let us know how it all went. I will also do the same!!!!!!!

Hi Ladies!

Thanks for the updates. At my last scan at 32weeks my little girl was weighing in at 4lb which I guess is bang on normal. I am having my last scan at 36 weeks so I expect her to be about 6lbish which is also normal. I have actually stopped researching it now as the information seems to be heavily about the negative and I am not experiencing any of it, Thank God!!

The sonographer at my last scan did take a long time to find adequate blood flow in the umbilical cord but I was told that was my fault as I am on the larger side... It did worry me a bit but it was found eventually and she was happy with it so I guess its normal.

Keep me updated xxx

I just wanted to wish you ladies luck. I saw this thread and I had to check it out. Last year, I had SUA with my daughter, she was born at 29 weeks 1 days and died 6 days later from Edward's. I am expecting my second in December, and while all my test are coming back great, I still worry. I was wondering how common SUA was in general, without it having to mean a trisomy disorder, just in case I get that diagnosis again.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my son at 23 weeks so I can relate to why you would be worried in your current pregnancy. I am not sure how common SUA is sadly, but I do know it doesn't mean your baby will definitely have a disorder. In this pregnancy, SUA hasn't really effected my baby, which I am so grateful about. I had a scan today and she weighed 6.6lb and I am 36+5 weeks pregnant. Maybe she would have been bigger if he cord was normal but I am happy with her progress and so is my doctor.

Wishing you well x
