Hi hun, congratulations for making 36wks Usually women go to term after removal, and it is more unusual for removal to trigger labour immediately. Dont be surprised now if you go over due - I've seen it happen many times before. Your cervix could even immediately open to 1/2cms but you still won't go into labour until term - IC is no longer an issue because baby is just too big to fall out of the small opening (if indeed your cervix is open).

I didn't have my cerclage removed until my scheduled section at 38wks with twins. Before that point I was showing no sign at all of labour. Good luck xxx

Thank u,I forgot to tell u that I started contracting even before the removal of the cerclege, infact d doc said that it had started tearing my cervix when he removed it,so won't I go into labour earlier?

Hi, if you were contracting before removal Hun, then you're probably already in early labour. Did the doc mention where your cervix was with the stitch out? Did it dilate immediately? To have torn though the stitch means that you must be having fairly strong regular contractions. The stitch is very tough and it requires strong contractions for your cervix to open against it. No worries tho now hun, at 36wks and with the stitch out, you and bubs will be fine. Good luck, very excited for you

It takes just a few minutes,it's not really painful just a bit of discomfort when they are opening u up in order to get access to the cervix, then before u know it,it's out,I didnt even have any pain relief though some say they were given, anyway good luck and dont worry over it,it will be over before you know it.
