Losing my mind being stuck at home

I was signed off work at 31 weeks dues to spd and sciatica. It's got so bad I cannot walk very far without being in excrutiating pain, and I don't even dare attempt it now in case I can't get home. I don't drive and OH is at work all day. I moved house just before I conceived and now have no family or friends local to me... I'm going mental, with the boredom, loneliness and frustration of being so restricted.

Been stuck at home for 5 weeks now, and still have a potential 7 weeks of this. Some days, occasionally, I'm in good spirits, but today I've been crying all morning. I don't know how much more of this I can take

Aww gun, I know what it's like, I was signed off from 18 weeks pregnant and I was so lonely. I kept myself busy by gradually doing the nursery (it took a long time coz I was sitting doing most of it coz of the pain) and by making things for baby such as knitting blankets and things.

I also did a lot of research so I was prepared for everything when baby came. Hopefully you don't have too much longer of this x x

i know exactly how you feel. I have had spd in virtually all of my pg's and its awful. I even had to have my food shopping delivered all the time as i knew id never make it round, even the housework was impossible. I had a toddler at the time too and i always felt guilty that i couldnt take him out. My husband used to work all week too, so i had to rely on my older daughters to help out and keep me company, bless them. I was basically sat on my bum all day long, which isnt good for mind or body.

I dont appear to have developed spd yet and i usually have it by now, so keeping my fingers crossed this time, lol.

I dont really have any advice to aliveate the problem, but just keep your mind active and treat yourself to a nice dvd and dinner on a evening if you can, as it helps to have something to look forward to.

Thank you. It's nice to have some identification. I keep worrying that I will be so low by the time baby arrives from sitting around the house all day, I won't be able to come back from it when I need to.

I'm seeing mw tomorrow so will have a chat with her about it. I don't understand what makes one pregnancy different from another, my first was a breeze, I was out and about all the time. This one has possibly put me off having anymore lol xx

I think that feeling so low for me did the opposite and has given me so much energy now the pain has gone that I am loving life and was out and about 3 days after my section and was back to normal after a week!!
Big hugs to you x

That's good to hear I am so looking forward to doing the simple things that I would normally take for granted. I've made a real effort tonight to contact friends I haven't seen in a while and invite them for a visit. Hopefully it helps. xx

Yeah this is my 2nd pregnancy. First pregnancy was so easy and I was out and about all the time. I wasn't working then though and I wonder if I have just pushed myself too much with working full time and being a mum to a 5 year old this time round. It's hard to know isn't it! x
