Possible PE?

I have been feeling abdominal distention above my belly button and under my ribs for 2 days now. I have been dizzy on and off but when I last tested my bp on Sunday it was 124/78. My stomach is so big and and uncomfortable it hurts to breathe deep and my skin is stretched along my back and sides.
Does this sound like pre-eclampsia or just like normal stretching and/or indigestion?

Sounds like normal stretching to me. I know sometimes baby gets into my ribs and it can cause a lot of discomfort! Are you experiencing any swelling or vision changes? If so, i would definitely see your doc!

Having had both (!), it sounds like normal pregnancy indigestion and/or stretching -- the baby maybe pressing down on your diaphram. I would keep an eye on your BP, but other symptoms include: excessive swelling (particuarly your face), headaches that tylenol or paracetamol don't help, flashing lights/spots in front of your face (I didn't have the last one); tests that your GP/midwife can do include: urine tests and blood work. It is extremely uncommon to get PE this early in pregnancy (it does happen tho!). I would also ask your GP/midwife to run tests for iron levels as dizziness can be from anaemia (which I had/have).

In my case, my pregnancy was completely normal/routine until wk32 when, for the first time, I had high BP and was then monitored for the next three weeks, ultimately, PE was diagnosed at wk36 and I had the baby that day (we're both fine!)

Try not to worry too much, but do ask your doctor to run a few blood tests and check your urine.

best wishes

Doesn't sound like it to me. You're blood pressure is nowhere near where you'd be considered high. I had PE and having a swollen stomach and breathing difficulty & dizziness aren't PE symptoms, they're just normal pregnancy symptoms.

I think you're fine. :-)

I have pre-eclampsia right now and the doctors/midwives explained what to expect for pain under ribs or headaches...

Rib pain - imagine someone tying a piece of rope along under your ribs and pullin it together so tight that the pain is the worst you have ever felt and cannot breathe, it does not go with normal paracetamol, it does not come and go, it is consistent.

Headache/dizziness- headache that is the worst you have ever experienced, does not go with paracetamol and dizziness causes flashing lights, dots or blacking out

With preeclampsia they do mention that BP goes up and stays up, protein in urine is consistently at a high..and then the rest of the stuff happens ie kidney and liver problems...

hth
