I didn't know I was pregnant. Please help!

Hi everyone,

I am very scared for my baby because I found out at 15 months that I was pregnant. I didn't know I was pregnant because I was with my boyfriend and we had been using a condom and it broke. The next morning I took the morning after pill and got what I thought was my period a week and a half later. As soon as I had to take the morning after pill, I called my doctor and made an appointment to get on birthcontrol. I was on my period when I went in to the doctor and they gave me the nuvaring. I put it in that day (still bleeding) and was faithful about changing it on time. Anyway, I had some symptoms of being pregnant like sore boobs and was a little sick but I assumed the sore boobs was a side effect of the nuvaring (which is listed as a side effect on the box) and being a little sick, well I thought it was because I had weight loss surgery and my stomach has been a little off ever since I had it done. I had been losing weight, and since I am a big girl I didn't notice my stomach getting bigger. Anyway, I am very concerned about my baby. Over the holiday's I had a lot of friends in town and was drinking quite a bit. I even had a few nights were I was very drunk (like on new years). I figured that since I have been pregnant, I had been out drinking to get drunk two or three times a month, for the whole first trimester. I never drank into between those nights out though. Now I am so worried about FAS. Please help me, is there anyone else out there that has a similar story. Did your baby turn out ok? Everything I read about FAS, from facial problems to mental problems, it is so scary. I never meant to hurt this baby. I would never had drank that much if I had known I was pregnant.

I think you really need to have a good old fashion sit-down with your doctor. While there's PROBABLY nothing wrong with your baby, we can't really promise you that. Some countries allow alcohol once a day, some not at all. However, no prenatal care at all might not be the best idea.

I'd go ahead and call your doctor.

totally agree here,,,,especially since you got heavily drunk and not just once and in a very detrimental development time...

you will need to be watched maybe?? Just to make sure everything is on the up and up......please be honest with the doctor...there not there to judge you, there there to help you....

Definitely agree with the others- go back and see the doctor and be honest about everything. AT least that way your know you are both in the best of hands.
