Should we pay for sexing scans on the NHS?

Hello, I'm not quite a mummy yet but pregnant with my first and at nearly 37 (yrs old) can sometimes feel like an old mum! but very excited all the same. Just wondered if anyone knows why some NHS hospitals are charging £50 for a sexing scan? We went for our 20 week scan and were told we could not find out what the sex was and would have to pay extra and book a different scan? is this right? Looking forward to getting to know other mums online and around Shropshire, Whitchurch and surrounding areas

Hi! Welcome to BNB! I'm Krysty, and I'm a mommy to 2 little boys. I have no real advice on the scan, but I was told the gender at both of my 20 week scans.

Hi and welcome to BnB. I was told the gender at my 20wk scan. Maybe your baby was being shy and kept his/her bits hidden in which case she said you can find out (possibly - unless baby isn't playing ball again!) at a private scan. Suppose it depends on whether you really want to know the sex if you pay or not xxx
