They gave me spare kit once which was a netball skirt and tshirt. We were doing long jump and obviously the netball skirt didn't cover my knickers. I was a little s*it though I think because I refused to jump, I walked and stepped!! And then just sat down. It is humiliating but they do it to get you to bring your own kit. Didn't change my mentatility at all!

I remember vividly being 13, bringing the wrong kit, I should have bought leggings not my per skirt because we were doing trampolining. The birch of a teacher made me do the class in gym knickers and a t-shirt. It was a mixed gender class and I had never been so embarrassed.

I think it's unacceptable and my mum went to the head and went loopy.

They would not consider it acceptable to force a girl to jump around in front of boys wearing t-shirt and knickers in any other class.

At least you had gym knickers on! I remember having to do things like that with just my normal knickers on under my games skirt if I didn't have my PE knickers with me!
But my daughter didn't even have a PE skirt on and had to do it in normal knickers, which I'm surprised would happen these days.

I'd be complaining about that...yes she 'should' have brought her kit, but that's completely humiliating. We wouldn't go along with that as adults so I don't see how anyone can think that's an acceptable thing to make a 14 year old girl do. They're body conscious enough. I'd be raging!

Agree I would complain too, I teach in a primary school and would never expect a child to do pe in their underwear. I'm surprised there's not actually official guidance against this these days

I would be straight up to the school if my 6yr old (or even my 2&3 yr olds for that matter) was made to do gym in her pants, never mind a 14 year old. I don't understand how that could be deemed acceptable whatsoever.

Thanks for your responses. I understand why you think I should complain, but to be honest my daughter didn't seem that bothered. I was more than fuming. Apparently a few kids in that particular lesson didn't have their kit, and as my daughter was the one always forgetting, the others got the spares and she had to go without. But its her own fault for not having her kit in the first place!
