Anyone ever had a epidural?

I go back for my official induction Thursday and I do plan on having a epidural and I would love some advice on how everyone experienced there's?

I had an epidural after being induced just prior to EMCS. Didnt feel the needle go in. Pain relief was so quick. Such relief. I wouldn't have any hesitation in having another epidural if needed. Good luck!

I did! I had a really long slow labour was knackered, so they recommended it - it's total complete relief from the pain, I was sat reading a magazine in bed not a bother on me also had a nice sleep! But I didn't opt to have it topped up before pushing, and ended up in pain again haha! If you want to go pain free to the end, take the top up!

This was 7 years ago, but can't imagine much has changed

It can slow down your labour though, and I ended up having a ventouse assisted delivery :/ but sure that could have happened anyway?

I'm planning to go natural with number two... but hmm ask me again when I'm in labour! haha! xxx

why are you being induced? When I had my epidural with my son, I wanted it so badly. I was induced because I was leaking fluids. I guess that was a good reason for them to induce, even though my labor was starting on its own. Anyways, I was in such pain because they kept cranking up the pitocin that the needle in the back was not felt at all! Unfortunately, the epidural only lasted a few hours before it stopped working.

I had an epidural, I chatted the needle going in, hates the sensation of the fluid going in, had horrible back pain after and am still tender in that area and... It didn't work at all! The midwife and anaesthatist didn't believe me either, even when I was standing up!

I also had an induction with an epidural. Best decision for me as my bub turned and became back to back with me (excruciatingly painful). I was in labour for 9 hours and knew when to push as I also had the sever pressure in my bum.

I had one as I was induced and the pitocin drip caused my BP to rise so they had to do an epi to lower it. It didn't work and I was still in severe pain as George was back to back and I couldn't move... I got to 8cm before they re-did it but the second one worked and the pain relief was amazing. They stuck the needle in too far though and punctured my spine so I ended up with a spinal headache after delivery.

I was induced and had 2 epidurals, both of which failed and I felt everything! This rarely happens though. If you are being induced with pitocin I recommend getting one because the constant pain is horrendous.

I was induced and after 2 days and nights of contractions I had the epidural... it was bliss! Next time I will try and do it without, but if my labour is as long as my last then I will not hesitate to get it. I would have been too tired to push if I didn't have it x
