Anyone have a long first birth but quick second birth??

I am just wondering as I had a VERY LONG & hard first birth. I did go unmedicated but baby came out sunnyside up and contractions were always close together for the entire 30 hours I had 100% back labor, 9 (YES 9!) hours in transition, and it took 6 hours to push him out. I honestly think it took that long because he was posterior, but obviously i will never know. Just as i had a waterbirth with him, i will this LO too, but i was just looking for some encouragement...honestly i wouldn't even mind if it was an uber fast labor! Can you please share with me your experience (how many hours was your first?how many with your second?). Thank you!

Hi I was in labour with my first 14 hours and pushed for a half hour which was that bad but with my second I found her birth horrible it was 3 hours and 36 minutes and my pushing was 1 minute as I pushed once. They say rule of thumb divide your labour in half but who knows didn't work for me. Good luck with everything

My first I was in labour for 21 hours (once the contractions from induction started) had to have my waters broken, ended up with an epidural. Needed an episiotomy to get her out, ventouse came off her head so ended up with forceps.

My second I arrived at the hospital at 6cms, waters broke shortly after, got in the pool about an hour after arriving at hospital and he was delivered after45 mins in the pool with just 9 mins pushing.

Good luck

xx

thanks girls!
I did think, about the cutting your labor in half thing...but im not so certain that would apply to my situation since my son was sunnyside up...that can REALLY complicate things and make for a MUCH longer birth....thoughts?I guess no one can say, but i wish i knew haha

i was in labour for 36 hours with my first and it was horrendous, so i was scared when i got pregnant again....but it lasted only 8 hours completely natural, and it was a very wonderful and emotional birth! good luck!

Hi there, I was in labour for 17.5 hours with my first (it was horrendous!!), and 3.5 hours with my 2nd (sooo easy!)! My third was an induction and that was 2 hours from the drip going in, to delivery!

For the labors that were not augmented/induced, what reasons do you ladies believe it was so much faster, outside of the "its a second time birth"...im just wondering, like phsyically, mentally? Specifics thanks!

Amelie was too (she was delivered as a direct OP) and her labour was 15 hours (12 established) and pushed for 27mins. Maybe I'll sneeze this one out

My first labour was 43 hours and I was pushing for an hour to get him out. It was the worst experience of my life! Was induced with 2nd and labour lasted 5 hours with about 10-15 minutes of pushing. Easy!
