Waters breaking

Now this may be a stupid question but what is it like when your waters break? Is it just clear liquid? does it hurt?

It's normally clear (unless something is wrong with LO). Mine didn't hurt. It actually felt better as it was bulging into the canal putting pressure on my bladder.

My waters broke with both my children. They were a leak and I couldn't feel anything, just kept wetting through my pants and had no control over it. It was pretty clear, but with my second it had a pinkish tinge. I then had a full rupture (it all went, no leak) with my second after the leaking. That didn't hurt at all, but it was messier and needed to wear a thick pad and change it often.

I felt a popping sensation but my waters were a thick meconium, not watery at all, just a green gunk

My waters broke first with Imogen and during labour with Freya. Both times I felt pressure and a sort of I need to wee sensation then pop and gushing fluids. With Freya there's was meconium in the fluid there was a greenish tinge to in and little bits of meconium.

I wasn't 100% sure my waters had gone at all! I just woke up after a nights worth of sleep, stood up and felt like i'd just wee'd myself, not much about a teaspoon. Left it, thought it was just too much pressure on my bladder. Went to sleep the night after, woke up and the same thing happened. Nothing trickled out in the daytime which was weird. Anyway went to the hospital got examined and they said it was my waters! Then when she finally popped out she bought her swimming pool with her haha

First time mine leaked out over 2 days, just needed light pad. With my 2nd they burst as the head crowned - it was an explosion of baby & everything else all in 1 go :/
Dont recon it would hurt at all if they did break suddenly

I was in the bath in active labour. It felt just like a big pop although because there was some blood and blood looks worse in water I completely freaked. Think I'd read too much on this forum and convinced my husband to call for the midwife because of a placental abruption ;-) x
