going home after gel or refusing induction

Hiya evryone,

I just wanted to find out if anyone has been in for an induction gel and then waited at home for contractions to start??

Or if any of you have succesfully refused induction, i am 42 weeks on tuesday went for a sweep yesterday and midwife booked induction for monday.
Many reasons why i dont want it done but she doesn't seem to want to listen.

I delayed induction until 40+18 and I went into labour naturally at 40+16 and she was born the next day at 40+17. I had daily monitoring from 42 weeks and a fluid level scan which all showed a healthy thriving baby. I also had 3 failed sweeps. My baby clearly just needed to cook longer.

I am so glad I delayed induction. I was having 5 contractions every 10 mins and was barely catching my breath in between before the next one hit as it was. I have no doubt that induction would have made my contractions too much to bear. I managed to do it on G&A (barely) and because of this pushed her out in 3 contractions when she got distressed. If I had had induction, I would have definitely had an epidural and would have probably ended up with a C section as I wouldn't have been able to push as effectively.

Your body, your baby, your choice. Its hard though when you are so emotionally fragile and heavily pregnant. You HAVE to consent to anything being done to you- don't feel pressured if its not what you want. Feel free to PM me as I know how hard it is to make this choice.

You can't go home after the gel. You will be monitored afterwards as it can cause fetal distress or uterine overstimulation.

If you don't want the induction ask for daily monitoring instead xx
