It depends on how you feel and what type of hospital you are in. I stayed in with my 2nd for 4 nights even though i'd had a very straight forward labour and birth. I was very fortunate that the hospital i went to after the birth was a quiet maternity unit and they were in no way anxious to shove me back home. It was wonderful being in for that length of time and i'd of stayed longer but felt i aught to go home. It was pretty much the only time i had on my own with my little girl.

I love our maternity ward, its really nice & the food is yummy! So i dont mind staying kind of like a break

Everywhere varies. I was in the hospital for an extra day after having LO. I had her on Tuesday and went home early Thursday.

I had Leah at 4.30am and was home by 1pm. I could have stayed longer if I wanted to but wanted to get home.

I had to stay four days with my oldest, but that was only because I developed a really high fever. At that hospital it was common for two days with your first. There were no complications with the other two and I went home the next day. This time I am pushing to go home ASAP since I never get any rest while in the hospital.
